117. New Road from Island Road to Stanley.-A contract, comprising the construction of a 25′ road from the Main Island Road at Stanley to R.B.L. 243 at Stanley, together with a branch road to Stanley Police Station, including all necessary walling, bridges, culverts and cross drainage, was let to Messrs. Hop Hing & Son on 3.2.33 for a sum of $46,911.50. Good progress was maintained during the year.

118. Kennedy Road-Completion of Widening.-The widen- ing to 30 feet of a further section of this road, adjoining the Magazine, was satisfactorily carried out by Messrs. Sang Lee & Co.

123. Tsat Tse Mui Quarry-Covering to Mixing Plant, New High Tension Cable and a Transformer House. This work was referred to in paragraph 114 of last year's Report. The erection of steel-work was put in hand and the high tension cable was partly laid before the end of the year.

124. Tsat Tse Mui Quarry-Extension and Improvements.- Under this heading a weighbridge was installed and 10 bins of 4 cubic yards capacity each were provided to improve the present loading arrangements at the Quarry.

Rewiring of Government Buildings.-The following twenty-five buildings were completely rewired for fans and lights (total number of points, 2,292):-Hong Kong Volunteer Head- quarters; Nos. 405-407, The Peak; Nos. 1-8 Leighton Hill; Nos. 97, 99, 101, 102, 105 and 107 Wongneicheong Road; Wanchai Market; Wanchai Scavenging Coolie Quarters; Belcher Street Scavenging Coolie Quarters; Hong Kong Magistracy Building; D.S.P.'S Quarters, Central Police Station; Belilios School and Central Market.

126. Laying Telephone Cable from the main route Victoria Gap-Gough Hill.--The old aerial route was replaced by an underground cable.

128. Reinstatement of Government Retaining Walls.—This work was referred to in paragraph 113 of last year's Report.
One of the walls on the Tai Hang Road was in bad condition and a contract for taking down about 200 linear feet of the wall and rebuilding it in cement concrete with rubble facework was let to the General Construction Co. on 28.10.33 for a sum of $7,080.00. Good progress was made towards the end of the year.

129. Central Police Station: Extension to Store. The work consisted of enclosing a portion of the ground floor verandah of the existing Store to provide increased accommodation.
